This is NOT your typical Ultra race.

This is a wilderness adventure. Prepare.

The Midwest States 100 course is in a lightly travelled section of Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. The majority of the course is on Wisconsin’s iconic Ice Age Trail. The terrain in this area is difficult. Wild animals include bears. The course aid stations are spaced from 6 to 7 miles apart. This race is for the runner looking for a challenging wilderness adventure. The course will be well marked. We use reflective flags/tape. The race is a 34 hour cutoff because it will be needed to finish this race.

A small field of runners

The appeal of this remote location means there is not a lot of parking in the area. This means we get to have a cozy & small group of runners. Our race cap will sit at 150 runners.

Camping- we are planning to have a group “get to know each other” event for those camping the week before the event. Pancake breakfast, shake out run, a few things to relax before the big day. We will post details as they come together. All are welcome to come. If you are staying outside the park, please know you are welcome.

Race Entry includes:

Registration on ultrasignup.

Race entry includes

  • Group camping is saved for runners. You bring and use one 2-man tent, and one car. The group camping is at Spearhead campground. You can choose to share that 2-man tent with your pacer if you like, but do not put up a larger tent or bring more than one car.

  • Register early to be guaranteed a campsite. When they fill we have one other group option we will open up. One tent per runner. One car per runner.

  • You can purchase an extra camping spot in the group camping on ultrasignup. One camping spot purchase is good for one 2 man tent.

  • If you are bringing a camper, or a large group of people with you booking a nearby campground is your option. LINK

  • We will send an email before race day on where your campsite is, and who you will be camping with in the group camping.

  • National Forest campsites are very roomy. These are gorgeous, many of them are on the water, and there is a lot fun activities in the park. Great restaurant and Mondeaux Lodge, boat rental and beautiful trails to explore. Camping is from Thursday August 22nd to Monday August 26th.

  • 100 mile Finisher buckle, 100k Finisher buckle or 50k finisher medal.

  • 2024 Something NEW but equally cool to the 2023 Custom Designed Race backpack made by Boco Gear.

  • Race t-shirt

  • Your 100 mile race entry is good to be either an official 100 mile or an official 100k finisher. When Runners get back to the start/finish line at the 100k point they can stop here and be an official 100k finisher, or head back out and go for the 100 mile finish.
