Super Volunteers Keith & Carol Z
Keith and Carol Zygowicz are happy to be returning to the Midwest States 100 for the 4th year. Considered "locals" due to family owning a cabin near the trail and spending countless hours making sure the trail is passable, along with hiking many of the race segments countless times. We have helped shuttle thru hikers as well as weekend warriors and a few transports of hikers that had injuries.
How did two non runners find out about this race..
Keith saw a "ornery mule racing flag" where the ice age crosses the logging road he spends a lot of time on in the fall.
They are not new to volunteering after 30+ years as a EMT/ firefighter. They enjoy making sure the trail is marked well to be sure no one gets off trail. They provide many trail photos all year to help runners get familiar with the course.
They want to be sure every runner leaving "in the woods" will be able to make the next checkpoint or assist them getting to a location others can get them back to the start line.
